About the author
This website is owned and operated by Adam Alban. I have a M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Michigan State University. I also have a J.D. from American University in Washington, DC. I am admitted to practice law in California and am licensed as a psychologist in California. (PSY 21568) (SBN #248546)
I provide clinically-informed legal services to practitioners throughout California. My legal clients include individual practitioners, group practices, multi-site clinics, hospitals, and professional associations. This includes representation for a wide variety of legal concerns including licensing board complaints, deposition representation, privacy breaches, expert witness support, and all manner of clinical/professional challenges. I work with clients in-person, via telephone/email, and videoconference to support and grow their practices. I am a frequent contributing author to professional publications and a continuing education speaker on the intersection of law and mental health practice. Prior to moving to California I worked in the General Counsel’s office for the District of Columbia Department of Mental Health.
In addition to these areas of assistance for practitioners, I serve as outside counsel to tech companies and behavioral health startups requiring assistance building clinically useful and legally compliant technology tools.
My clinical background includes forensic, neuropsychological, psychodiagnostic assessments, crisis intervention, and both short-term and long-term psychotherapy. I have worked in private practice, hospital, clinic, and school-based settings with individuals ages 5-95.
Contrary to what you might imagine, having an attorney for your practice is quite easy: it just takes an initial email or call to ask if I can be of assistance. I've been doing this for a while and it's very likely that you have a friend or colleague who I've worked with in the past.
